Trix Twin fibre layout, c1960

(Fibre is the material the track base is made from, it is actually thick bitumen paper as used on shed roofs, etc. The new track was introduced in Britain about 1957 and made layouts look more realistic, it replaced the earlier toy like bakelite based track.)

Track diagram showing electrical sections (in colour) and electrically operated points.

Some more pictures of the layout taken at model railway exhibitions.

Terminal station and goods yard.

Engine shed and loco sidings with coal conveyor in background.

Coal hopper wagon train on the inner circuit. The electrically operated wagons tip coal
into the hopper where it is lifted on to the conveyor and discharged into the waiting wagons.
While this is being demonstrated another train can be running on the inner main line.
